Topic: Bless And Do Not Curse!
Text: Romans 12: 14
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Amen
Here in Africa, our misconception of a curse is that it must directly invoke a diety to be effective. So then, since most of us see that as going too far, and would rather not, we don’t see ourselves as cursing anyone. However, a curse is anything that is not a blessing. The negative desire in your heart against your neighbour, the insult, the condemnation and the decision not to bless them because of hate, all amount to a curse.
You see, many many things can provoke one to curse. Especially when things are directly or indirectly done against you to undermine your integrity and dignity. But you remember the promise God gave the patriarch Abraham; He said “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” (Genesis 12: 3)
This doesn’t only mean that you wait for someone to bless you so that they become blessed by God. It also means you can go ahead, be the first to bless people, no matter who they are, and God will bless you even the more.
Make up you mind therefore to go through the day with your mouth filled with blessings. Tell your workers and colleagues, “God bless you”. Ignore those who provoke you and bless them in your heart. Say to everyone you meet that:
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.”’ (Numbers 6: 24-26). Bless today and you won’t be able to count your blessings. Begin to pray for a forgiving heart that can love and bless even those who persecute you.
Lift up your heart to the Lord. Let Him change you from deep within. https://youtu.be/fd0qOWTPhFE
