Topic : Watch The Prophet And His Prophecies!
Text : Deuteronomy 13: 1- 4
1 If a prophet, or one who foretells by dreams, appears among you and announces to you a sign or wonder, 2 and if the sign or wonder spoken of takes place, and the prophet says, “Let us follow other gods” (gods you have not known) “and let us worship them,”
3 you must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. The LORD your God is testing you to find out whether you love Him with all your heart and with all your soul. 4 It is the LORD your God you must follow, and Him you must revere. Keep His commands and obey him; serve Him and hold fast to Him. Amen
So many prophets have come in the name of the Lord. They are able to, according to them, hear from the Lord, work miracles and heal and that’s alright.
However, if the lifestyle of any prophet is contrary to Christ as the methods of healing and working of miracles he adapts, and they look more fetish than divine, run out with speed and head straight to Jesus.
What is worse is when he/she subtly makes you swear allegiance to a diety other than Jehovah or initiates you to practices and secret rituals that are more occultic in nature. You see, all a prophet does and says must draw us closer to God and give glory to His name. Otherwise he is on his own.
But you, why don’t you build your relationship with Jesus and take Him by His word rather than run to the latest self acclaimed prophet in town. Someone whose spirituality remains unclear.
Most often than not, many of the challenges we go through are for the manifestation of the glory of God in our lives. Our Father in heaven allows them as tests to find out whether we love Him with all our hearts.
It is best therefore to follow and revere the Lord. To keep His commands and obey Him; to serve Him and hold fast to Him; and not run around seeking for the quickest solution with adverse spiritual and physical consequences.
Take time off to reflect on this word. Decide to be more intimate with the Lord than you have been. To build your faith on His word and by the help the Holy Spirit discern to know His position in every matter. Refuse to be a victim of anxiety, curiosity and impatience. These vices have led many astray; into the hands of false prophets who have no relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
Begin to pray your life into God’s hands and trust His word to be true now and forever more.
