Today’s Devotion
Topic: Temporal Solution, Eternal Damage!
Text: Psalm 97: 1- 7
“1. The Lord reigns, let the earth rejoice; let the many coastlands be glad! 2. Clouds and thick darkness are all around him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne. 3.Fire goes before him and burns up his adversaries all around.
- His lightnings light up the world; the earth sees and trembles. 5. The mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before the Lord of all the earth.
- The heavens proclaim his righteousness, and all the peoples see his glory. 7. All worshipers of images are put to shame, who make their boast in worthless idols; worship him, all you gods!” Amen
Lately, modernized idolatry and satanic worship is everywhere. There are television, radio, internet and billboard advertisements that explain the various attributes of these lesser gods and what they can offer. Spiritualists buy airtime to demonstrate their magic, like it was an alternative to what JEHOVAH can do.
They promise to give jobs to the unemployed, children to the barren, prosperity to their followers if only these faithfuls would pay some money, make blood sacrifice and remain loyal. They also promise to deliver them from “evil”. They give charms to “protect” against witchcraft attacks, spiritual marriages etc.
But is it not light that defeats darkness? How can darkness deliver darkness? How come they never offer SALVATION, could it be that they have none to give?
Well, they have become so popular that they even sponsor radio programs and social events as a marketing strategy. Their clientele size keeps increasing everyday, most of their loyals being Christians and even “pastors”.
THESE SPIRITISTS ARE OFTEN PRESENTED AS THE “FAST SOLUTION” ALTERNATIVE TO THE “SLOW” SUPREME GOD. But of what use is temporal solution if it causes eternal destruction to the soul and binds you perpetually with darkness?
Dear beloved, quit being confused about this matter, our GOD has no CO-EQUAL. He remains the source of POWER and the FOUNTAIN of life. His lightning lights up the world, the earth sees and trembles. Fire goes before Him to consumes His foes on every side.
“When someone tells you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not people rather inquire of their GOD? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?” (Isaiah 8: 19)
“This is what the Lord says— Israel’s King and Redeemer, the Lord Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God. 7 Who then is like me? Let him proclaim it. 9 All who make idols are nothing and the things they treasure are worthless. (Isaiah 44: 6, 7a, 9a)
Beloved, don’t allow materialism to lead you into destruction. Our Lord Jesus Christ is more than able to sustain you. “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)
Begin to pray now, rededicate your life to Christ. Repent from any form idolatry and false hope that keeps you away from God. Return to Hod and a ecure salvation for your soul.
