He Will Strengthen You

Topic: He Will Strengthen You
Text: 1 Kings 19: 4-6, 8

4 While he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.” 5 Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep. All at once an angel touched him and said, “Get up and eat.”

6 He looked around, and there by his head was some bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again. 8 So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he traveled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God. Amen

Once in the life of the mighty prophet Elijah he became tired, worn, stressed, fustrated and wanted to throw in the towel but God intervened. We get tired too; some of us are even tired as we speak today.

Tired of the pressures of life weighing us heavily down, tired of the same old job, tired of the same old sad song. Some of us have gone beyond tired and now we despair. The only good news about this situation is that God is not tired of us; He will intervene!

He says “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat, Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare.” (Isaiah 55: 1-2)

Jesus explains further by saying, Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:28- 29)

Any of the tired amongst us today? Anyone weary and ready to give up? Anybody desiring to be refreshed by the River and Bread of Life? Why don’t you “seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him while He is near.” (Isaiah 55: 6)

Arise to bible study and fervent prayer this morning, that is food for your soul. You will receive power from on high to out run horses and chariots. You will be empowered to travel non stop till you reached the top – the moutain of God.

Rise up therefore and begin to pray all your fustrations, stress and hopelessness away. Pray dilligently for the journey ahead is much demanding than what you have covered. Jesus is still Lord, LEARN FROM HIM, you will never fail.
