Topic: Lead Me To The Rock
Psalm 61: 1-2 (KJV)
Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Amen
Sometimes the heart get overwhelmed, yes, sometimes it does! Life circumstances are often too much for one to bear. In prayer, David cried out saying; “when my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the Rock that is higher than I.” Who is David talking about? How did he know that there exists a Rock in Isreal higher than he the king?
Well you remember in Exodus 17:5-6, when God instructed Moses to gather the people of Israel around the rock at Horeb and smite the Rock, so water flows to quench their thirst? Well, the Holy Spirit explains through Paul in 1 Corinthians 10:1-4 saying, _“Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; and were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; And did all eat the same spiritual meat; and did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.”
So Jesus is that Rock that followed them all along. He Himself explained further in Matthew 22: 42 saying, “Did you never read in the Scriptures, ‘THE STONE WHICH THE BUILDERS REJECTED, THIS BECAME THE CHIEF CORNER stone; THIS CAME ABOUT FROM THE LORD, AND IT IS MARVELOUS IN OUR EYES’?
Beloved, you now know why we call Him ROCK OF AGES. He was Rock before David lived, Rock during king David’s reign and is still Solid Rock today. All whose hearts are overwhelmed with the pressures of this life; as they think about how to:
i. settle bills and debts
ii. make ends meet
iii. rise again after a fall
iv. settle those marital/ relational challenges that threaten the union etc., should come to Him without delay.
He is a heart fixer, problem solver, life changer, mighty healer, river of joy, peace giver and way maker. He says come to me you who are weary and I will give you rest! Begin to pray right now! Jesus is the Rock that is higher than ALL your problems.
“As you come to Him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For in Scripture it says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in Him will never be put to shame.” (1 Peter 2: 4-6). Stop the tears therefore, run to Jesus!
