Respect For Mankind!

Topic: Respect For Mankind!
Text: Mark 8: 24-25 (NIV)

24 He looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.” 25 Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. Amen

With your permission, today’s devotion employs a little humour. You see our Lord Jesus came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged that He heals him. Jesus then took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. There He prayed for him and asked, “Do you see anything?” The blind man looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.

Many of us are like this blind man. Although we are in church and sit under the ministry of the Holy Ghost, we have not allowed the touch of Christ to impact our lives fully. In effect we have become “born again” believers with no regard for mankind because WE ACTUALLY SEE PEOPLE AS TREES WALKING AROUND.

You see if Jesus had left this man in that state of partial blindness, He could have been one of the most insensitive persons to ever live (hypothetically speaking). In his sight and mind, all mankind will be like trees walking about. He could “cut you off” and move on with ease anytime he so pleased.

Jesus, realizing the healing was not complete, called the blind man back and prayed for him again. By the second touch, He saw clearly. People are not like trees anymore – they were fearfully and wonderfully created in the image of God.

Brethren, this new year remains promising for those who have regard for God and humanity. God is going to bless us but through people. If we have no regard for those we live or work with, we may as well be skipping our own blessings.

So now, let us all go back to the Father for ANOTHER TOUCH. That touch that makes our healing and deliverance complete. For “half-baked” deliverance only leaves us vulnerable to impaired judgements (makes us worse than before).

Begin to pray now. Ask God to open your eyes and give you a heart that admires and respects all people made in His image and likeness.
