Today’s Devotion
Topic: Make This Sacrifice
Text: Psalm 20: 3
May He remember all your sacrifices and accept your burnt offerings. Amen
For some unexplained reason, Psalm 20 begins with a list of powerful blessings to be delivered over God’s people. One of such declared blessings is in the third verse” May He remember all your sacrifices.”
The question then arises… If God had a special reward for the sacrifices we make towards His kingdom and the offerings we give, would you qualify for that big blessing? What types of sacrifice will the father see when He pulls out your file in heaven?
Brethren, it is alarming to see all of us becoming more and more self-centered and inward-looking. It almost feels like punishment for us to make godly sacrifices lately.
We always give a reason or two as to why;
i. We can’t make time to pray or do our quiet time before leaving for work (or going to school).
ii. We can’t make it to that revival or church program even though we know God will show up and bless His people there.
iii. We can’t give our money, time and other resources to support the work of God. Our families, jobs and future aspirations are our priorities.
iv. We can’t help the orphan, homeless, and widow, destitute, sick, poor and hungry. Theirs is the responsibility of the families they come from and the State. WE FORGET THAT WE ARE ONE FAMILY IN CHRIST.
v. WE CAN’T OFFER OUR LIVES AS A LIVING SACRIFICE, HOLY AND ACCEPTABLE TO GOD.
The truth however is: whoever sacrifices all they are and have for God’s use, actually lends to God. On the day of remembrance, God commands the floodgates of heaven to open and RAINS over them more goodness, favour, kindness and blessing than they offered.
Why don’t you sow a SEED today? Give unto God that which will cost you. Make His service your delight; He will make your wants His care. Begin to pray now.
