Today’s Devotion
Topic: Pray For This!
Text: Exodus 6:6
“Therefore say to the children of Israel: ‘I am the Lord; I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments.” Amen
When the Israelites were in slavery, they were forced to make bricks all day long. They were given quotas that were almost impossible to meet. And at one point, Pharaoh got upset and had the slave drivers take away all the straw they needed for bricks. They had the same quota, but they had to go find their own straw.
We can almost imagine them praying, “God, please give us straw otherwise we will not meet our quota for the day and these slave drivers are going to get upset.” The Israelites had been pushed down for so long that they will try anything terrible just to please Pharaoh. They had such a limited vision when they were praying for more straw because in reality, they were praying to become better slaves.
God however had much better plans for them, plans of good and not evil to bring them to an expected end and give them hope. He didn’t want to make better slaves out of them; He wanted to deliver them out of bondage entirely.
Beloved, today is another special day the Lord has made – call it a day of deliverance. Don’t just pray for improvement in your difficult situation, pray for deliverance from it! See beyond your circumstances and allow God to lead you out into the place of victory and abundance!
Begin to pray now. Ask for complete deliverance from every form of bondage in your life. Pharaoh is getting worse by the day. “There is no pleasing Him”! He has hardened his heart to be worse today than before. Pray for deliverance now!
