Topic: Preoccupied? Just Believe!
Text: Gen 15: 1- 2
1 After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.” 2 But Abram said, “Sovereign Lord, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?” Amen
The Lord had done amazing things for Abram. However, when the word of the Lord came to him saying “don’t be afraid, I am your shield and your great reward”; the best answer Abram could give was, “SOVEREIGN LORD, WHAT CAN YOU GIVE ME SINCE I REMAIN CHILDLESS?”
Like Abram, those of us who proclaim the sovereignty of the Lord (Christians) are even the ones who question His ability the most. We are always ungrateful about the much He’s done simply because we feel a particular need in our lives is yet to be met.
Abram did not even realise that the phrase, “I am your great reward” actually implied that everything he needed was already catered for, so long as he remained a friend of God. Truth is, he was so preoccupied about his “childlessness” that, he could not receive the “rhema” of the Word.
Arise oh child of God! Don’t be preoccupied with what you have or do not have. Shake off all the unbelief and receive the word of God like a child. Begin to pray. Ask for grace to receive the word of God without doubt. As for God, He’s able to do all He says He will do. DON’T QUESTION, THE ANSWER IS BEYOND YOU – JUST BELIEVE!
