Today’s Devotion
Topic: Wrestling In Prayer
Text: Colossians 4:12-13
12 Epaphras, who is one of you and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends greetings. He is always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured. 13 I vouch for him that he is working hard for you and for those at Laodicea and Hierapolis. Amen.
Oh yes! We need more Epaphras now than ever before- that is, Christians who will stand in the gap and pray for the church of Christ. Those with the passion and burden to intercede for the people of God so they may STAND FIRM in the WILL OF GOD, MATURED AND FULLY ASSURED.
Beloved, the storms that are hitting the church lately are highly effective to sweeping even “the most anointed” off their feet. We are in a generation where the Word of God is perceived and interpreted as lacking substance for this “advanced” age.
On the contrary, this era presents ideologies that rather glorify human achievements as the standard worthy of emulation. In effect all, including believers, employ fair or foul means to keep ahead of the “game”, even if that requires a compromise on God’s Word.
The Will of God is not an important subject matter anymore. Instead of teaching the truth and leading the way, we find some self-styled “men of God”, busily at work, both on radio and television, misleading the ignorant with sermons that do not trace to the rhema of the bible. They work tirelessly day and night, claiming the prophetic, in order to make a little more money for the latest fashion or car.
We all, like sheep, have gone astray; each of us has turned to our own way. Where are the Epaphras of our time? Where are the Jesus lovers of our generation? It’s time to wrestle in prayer for the church, so all believers may stand in the Will of God, matured and fully assured.
Why must we leave this all important assignment to the “prayer warriors” of our churches alone? The kingdom business is much more than to be left for some few. Become a secret intercessor today. No one needs to know you are. Just you or together with a few brethren.
Pray daily for the Church of Christ. Pray that the lost will accept the Lord Jesus as their personal saviour. Pray that all who come to Christ receive both the indwelling and infilling of the Holy Spirit.Pray that those whose love has wax cold will return to their first love. Pray that we remember our creator in the days of our youth. Pray that we put on the full armour of God that we may stand the fiery darts of the devil.
Pray for the sick, widowed, orphaned and needy.Pray that our lives please the Lord so that we make it to heaven. Receive the gift of an intercessor now in Jesus name! Remember to lift high His royal banner, IT MUST NOT SUFFER LOST!
