Topic: Happy Mother’s Day To All Women!
Text: Luke 2: 19, 51
“19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.” 51 He (Jesus) went with them to Nazareth and obeyed them. But His mother kept all these words in her heart. Amen
The heart of every mother is a beautiful book. A chronicle of all prayers, experiences and prophecies about their wards and they cherish it. Everything that happens before, during and after conception, delivery or adoption adds to the more reason why every mother so loves their wards and feel much attached to them.
Jesus’ mother Mary was an exceptional mother too. She bore a Son with extraordinary situations surrounding Him. First of all, His birth was not ordinary and was even announced by an angel (Luke 1: 30-31), Shepherds and wise men came to worship at His birth (Luke 2: 8-20, Matt 2: 1-11), Herod wanted Him dead (Matt 2: 13), prophets and holy people prophesied about Him (Luke 2: 25- 38), and the boy Himself kept reminding her of how extraordinary He is (Luke 2: 49).
Mary could only ponder over all this (both the events and the words about her son), treasure them in her heart and decide to support her ward all the way through. Yes, she did not always fully understand these words and circumstances that surrounded this unusual son but she chose to trust God and do whatever she can to see her Son live to fulfill His destiny.
No wonder she and her husband heeded the instruction from the angel to flee to Egypt lest Herod kills the Boy. They were not going to allow any harm around Him. You also remember how she went looking for Him for three days when they were sure He was missing (luke 2: 48).
Yes, she was there on the day of His first miracle (John 2: 1-11). She was around throughout His ministry (Matt 12: 46). She was right at the foot of the cross when they crucified Him (John 19: 25). And continued with Jesus disciples in the ministry even after His ascension (Acts 1: 14).
Such is the heart of every Mother and we are fully aware. An indescribable heart of both tenderness and strength to bear, nuture and raise us to all that God wants us to be. We run to them even after we are grayed and find their arms and hearts always opened to receive us. What a blessing they are!
Take some time off today and wish all women a happy mother’s day, especially your dear mum. Let her know how much you cherish and pray for her. The blessings of God will always be on those who honor their father and mother. Everything goes well for them and they live long in the Land. Happy Mothers Day to all women. God bless you all!
