The Master Is Willing!

Topic: The Master Is Willing!
Text: Mark 5: 11- 13

13 Now a great herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside, and they begged him, saying, “Send us to the pigs; let us enter them.” So he gave them permission. And the unclean spirits came out, and entered the pigs, and the herd, numbering about two thousand, rushed down the steep bank into the sea and were drowned in the sea.” AMEN

After Jesus had calmed the storms, He and the disciples sailed to the other side of the sea. There on the other side, at the country of the Garesenes, a man possessed with many unclean spirits with the collective name “Legion” met Him.
Now, Jesus had mercy on this man and began to cast out the demons. But what did the demons do? They begged Jesus, saying, “Send us to the pigs; let us enter them”. Jesus simply granted their request.

Firstly because they were bold to ask Him. Actually, according to the Laws of eternity, there is an appointed time to destroy all uncleans spirits and that time was not yet up. Until then, they loiter about seeking an abode either in man or anything created. So when the unclean spirits regarded Jesus’ authority over them and asked to be cast into the herds of pigs who will all be destroyed at sea, Jesus permitted. (Mk 5: 7- 8).

Secondly, the Lord Jesus granted their request because He was willing. You see, the Master would rather these unclean spirits enter into a herd of pigs to be destroyed at sea, than they enter a second time into the man they had possessed.
This tells us just one thing. When we ask in accordance with the law of eternity (the Word of God), the Master will be willing. And if the Master wills, we shall receive.

So now you know that we have not asked Jesus enough concerning our situations. We have not been specific even when we ask. Note that the unclean spirits told Jesus specifically to send them into the pigs. Now, if Jesus could grant the request made by unclean spirits, how much more won’t He do for us His own, whom He purchased with His precious blood? He is more than willing!

In the Hymn “WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS”, the writer wrote: “Oh, what peace we often forfeit; Oh, what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer”. You may have complained so much about your situation to people who cannot provide solution. Your situation probably has not changed because you have not engaged Jesus.
The good news however is this: It is never too late with God. Just be bold and from this day carry everything to God in prayer. Petition Him according to His word and believe that He is willing to give you more than you even ask.

Begin to pray now. Cast all your burdens unto Christ Jesus, He simply cares for you. Let’s get ready to meet Him today at church.
