Stop Doubting And Believe!

Topic: Stop Doubting And Believe!
Text: John 20: 29

Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” Amen.

Thomas was not around in the evening of the first day of the week when Jesus appeared to His disciples. The doors were locked for fear of the Jewish leaders. Jesus suddenly appeared in their midst but was not a ghost (or spirit). He was still the same person they had known earlier except for the holes in his hands, feet and side to prove He’s the same who had been crucified. He sent them out just as the Father sent Him here, and He breathed the Holy Spirit over them.

Now Thomas was not with the others when all these happened. When they told him upon his return he said, “Unless I see the nail marks in His hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hands into His side, I WILL NOT BELIEVE.”

Little did He know that God had heard his doubt and the evidence he wanted to see before believing. One week later, as they were all gathered in the room again, this time with Thomas, Jesus appeared in their midst again.

He said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” Thomas said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus then told him that, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Beloved, there is a greater power in all the earth than Science and logic can explain. It is called THE POWER OF GOD! Those who, like Thomas, require evidence before believing may get none, but the moment they experience the manifestation of this great power, they will be so shocked that all they can say is “MY LORD AND MY GOD.”

Yes, that expression is one of total surrender to the supremacy of God. He is the ALMIGHTY and there’s nothing that can change that. Stop doubting and believe that His Word is true.

But come to think of it, why are you still so afraid and doubtful that everything is going to be well in Christ? You have read it in His Word and have heard the testimony of others too, yet you are sure your life will never see light. Why should you be so doubtful of God? “…Even the demons believe He is–and shudder” (James 2:19b). Paul said to Timothy, “I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day” (2 Tim 1: 12b).

Stop doubting and meditate on this word. Pray for grace to understand the Word you read so that your faith will be encouraged. For without faith it is impossible to please God (Heb 11: 6).

You don’t have to limit God in your very circumstance at all. He has “incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength He exerted when He raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms. Far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come” (Eph. 1: 19- 21).

Get ready to see one miracle happening after the other in your life because you believe, and you will scream louder everyday “My Lord and my God!” The shock of His love, compassion and power will simply amaze you till you are lost for words; except to bow in adoration saying repeatedly without end, ”MY LORD AND MY GOD!”
