Who Is This God? (Part 4)

Topic: Who Is This God? (Part 4)
Text: Genesis 1: 29

Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.” Amen

Today, our focus is on agriculture; to prove God as the best agriculturist of all time. You see, on the third day of creation, the Lord decided to create the first of living things that should fill the earth — plants. He said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so. (Gen 1: 11).

The reason why He created vegetation that can produce its own kind was to ensure that they can be cultivated. Now apart from creating all the vegetation we see, HE PERSONALLY ARRANGED THEM ALL INTO A BEAUTIFUL GARDEN CALLED EDEN and said to the first man He created (Adam), “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.” (Gen 1: 29)

From then, the LORD God took the man (He has created) and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it” (Gen 2: 15).

How is it ever disputable then that God is an agriculturist? Apart from creating plants out of nothing, He also became the first farmer to have made the first garden and the one who commissioned the first human farmer that ever lived — Adam.

Prophet Isaiah does not miss words in proving the above. He writes, “Listen and hear my voice; pay attention and hear what I say. When a farmer ploughs for planting, does he plough continually? Does he keep on breaking up and working the soil? When he has levelled the surface, does he not sow caraway and scatter cumin? Does he not plant wheat in its place, barley in its plot, and spelt in its field?

HIS GOD INSTRUCTS HIM AND REACHES HIM THE RIGHT WAY. Caraway is not threshed with a sledge, nor is the wheel of a cart rolled over cumin; caraway is beaten out with a rod, and cumin with a stick. Grain must be ground to make bread; so one does not go on threshing it forever. The wheels of a threshing cart may be rolled over it, but one does not use horses to grind grain. ALL THIS ALSO COMES FROM THE LORD ALMIGTHY, WHOSE PLAN IS WONDERFUL, WHOSE WISDOM IS MAGNIFICENT.” (Is 28: 23- 29).

He does all the above as an excellent crop breeder, farmer and horticulturist. But that is not all. He is also the best in animal husbandry. No wonder David proclaimed that if Jehovah remained his shepherd, then HE WILL NOT WANT. For He makes His flock lie down in green pastures. He leads them beside the still waters. HE RESTORES THEIR SOULS.

But guess what, just when we are done being convinced that God is really a great farmer and shepherd, He pulls yet another wonderful surprise — HE IS A GREAT FISHERMAN TOO; literally showing the all-experienced fisherman called Peter and his friends, where to cast their net for a catch! This is after they had toiled all night and caught NOTHING! (John 21: 2- 6)

Meditate on all the above and begin to pray. Commit the working week into the hands of God. Jesus said, _”Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.” (John 12: 24)._

Plead that God will plant you like a SEED in His vineyard. So that after you have gone through the “dying” process, He will cause you to germinate, grow and bear many fruits for His glory. Fruits with several seeds for multiplication and expansion. You will never fail, IN THE NAME OF JESUS!

Tomorrow we will discuss God as a PHYSICIAN.
