Today’s Devotion
Topic: He’s Been Good.
Text: Psalm 116: 7-9, 12- 14
7 Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you. 8 For you, Lord, have delivered me from death, my eyes from tears, and my feet from stumbling, 9 that I may walk before the Lord in the land of the living. 12 What shall I return to the Lord for all His goodness to me? I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord. I will fulfil my vows to the Lord in the presence of all His people. Amen.
It has not been so long when you thought you wouldn’t make it through another day. That fateful day when the cords of death entangled you and the anguish of the grave came directly over your family. With tears that will never cease, you poured out your troubled soul to the Lord hoping that mercy will intervene.
Now here you are, standing stronger with a beaming smile that reflects the joy within your soul. If it hadn’t been the Lord on your side, let Israel say!
You also remember how many times you gave up the try for a better tomorrow because doors were never opening for you? Those days when you felt your prayers only hit the ceiling of your room and bounced back to you?
Now see what the Lord has done. Suddenly, doors are opening on every side with extended blessings spilling on all those loved ones who stood with you through the storm; and even to those who know nothing about the struggles of your past. If this is not the handy work of the Lord, let Israel say!
HE HAS BEEN GOOD TO YOU, ISRAEL. YES, THE LORD HAS BEEN TOO GOOD TO US. THROUGH IT ALL, HE HAS MADE US MORE THAN CONQUERORS. EVEN THE BAD THAT WAS MEANT FOR OUR EVIL, HE HAS TURNED IT AROUND FOR OUR GOOD. HE HAS NO PROBLEM; HE IS A GOOD GOD!
What should we render to the Lord therefore, for all His goodness towards us? David says, “I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord. I will fulfil my vows to the Lord in the presence of all His people”.
What about you, beloved? Lift up your voice in adoration and begin to bless the name of the Lord. HE HAS BEEN GOOD TO YOU. Thank Him for the broken chains and failed attempts on your life, career and family. But that’s not all. Also, make a decision to fulfil your vows to Him and towards His kingdom business.
The goodness of the Lord is everlasting. His steadfast love never ceases too; but they are new every morning to those who call upon His name. Therefore, MAY THIS GOODNESS AND MERCY FOLLOW YOU ALL THE DAYS OF YOUR LIFE SO THAT YOU MAY DWELL IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD FOREVER AND TESTIFY OF HIS WONDROUS WORKS IN JESUS NAME. See you at church.
