Topic: Don’t Just Feel Great, Achieve It!
Text Josh 17: 14- 18
14 The people of Joseph said to Joshua, “Why have you given us only one allotment and one portion for an inheritance? We are a numerous people, and the Lord has blessed us abundantly.”
15 “If you are so numerous,” Joshua answered, “and if the hill country of Ephraim is too small for you, go up into the forest and clear land for yourselves there in the land of the Perizzites and Rephaites.
”16 The people of Joseph replied, “The hill country is not enough for us, and all the Canaanites who live in the plain have chariots fitted with iron, both those in Beth Shanand its settlements and those in the Valley of Jezreel.”
17 But Joshua said to the tribes of Joseph—to Ephraim and Manasseh—“You are numerous and very powerful. You will have not only one allotment 18 but the forested hill country as well. Clear it, and its farthest limits will be yours; though the Canaanites have chariots fitted with iron and though they are strong, you can drive them out.” Amen
The descendants of Joseph drew the attention of Joshua to the fact, that the space of land alloted to them was too small for their numbers. Joshua then asked them to go up to the mountain in the land of the Perizzites and clear up the land for themselves. But there and then they told Joshua the canaanites dwelling in those lands had “IRON CHARIOTS”.
Beloved, most of us feel blessed and anointed. We are quick to point this out to all who look down upon us or attempt to take us for granted. We keep clarifying the misconception that our current situation doesn’t qualify to be our final destination.
Sometimes we feel that we are “bigger” than what we have. Or we deserve better salaries than we get, better examination results than we had the previous semester, better homes etc. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS WE ARE NOT WILLING TO WORK HARD TO EARN THEM.
We complain that we deserve better than we are given, yet just when the opportunity is given us to shine, we begin to find faults with it and would rather not venture.
The people of Joseph told Joshua that the Canaanites living there had IRON CHARIOTS.
Joshua being a fantastic leader saw beyond the challenge of the “IRON CHARIOTS”. He saw the potential Ephraim and Manasseh carried and encouraged them by saying ” You are numerous and very powerful. You will have not only one allotment but the forested hill country as well. CLEAR IT, and its FARTHEST limits will be yours; though the canaanites have iron chariots and though they are strong, YOU CAN DRIVE THEM OUT!
Beloved, meditate on this word and begin to pray. Don’t just have the feeling that you are a great person, arise and do what great people do to achieve greatness. Encourage yourself beyond their IRON CHARIOT- you can be everything God wills you to be in Jesus name.
