Topic: Glory Within, Wall of Fire Without!!
Text: Zechariah 2: 1- 5
1 Then I looked up, and there before me was a man with a measuring line in his hand. 2 I asked, “Where are you going?” He answered me, “To measure Jerusalem, to find out how wide and how long it is.”
3 While the angel who was speaking to me was leaving, another angel came to meet him 4 and said to him: “Run, tell that young man, ‘Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the great number of people and animals in it. 5 And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will be its glory within.’ Amen
In the vision Zechariah the prophet saw, Heaven had decided to assess the length and breadth of Jerusalem and an angel was at it. But before he would return to God with figures and findings, the Almighty who already knew what those figures were, sent another angel to meet the one with the data and inform him not to come yet.
Rather, he should return to Zechariah and make the young man aware that He (GOD) already knows from the records the angel is having that there is a great number of people and animals living inside Jerusalem. And for this reason, He (Himself) was going to be A WALL OF FIRE AROUND IT AND ITS GLORY WITHIN. What a blessing it is to have Jehovah surround our lives and families with His fire. Even greater when He becomes its glory within.
The Psalmist mentions that, “As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds His people both now and forevermore. The scepter of the wicked will not remain over the land allotted to the righteous, for then the righteous might use their hands to do evil.” (Psalm 125: 2- 3).
Dear Beloved, does the Psalm above not explain why the Almighty makes it His personal to duty hedge around Jerusalem and remain its glory within? It certainly does, lest evil enters in and corrupts the righteous to use their hands to do evil too.
You know, this morning, even before the angel with the measuring line comes to measure the length and breadth of your life and household, do some personal reflections. Assess yourself in the Lord and repent of all sins and evil. Ask the Holy Spirit to purge you and make you whole. That way, you have set your heart right to receive God Himself into all that you are and do. After this, just observe the Lord protect you and your household from the thief who steals at night and the enemy who comes to kill and destroy.
You see, Jehovah already knows that just as Jerusalem had many people and animals, so have you been given abundant life because you believe in His son, Jesus. There are so much blessings He’s deposited in you and your offspring. He will never allow the destroyer in. He (Himself) remains your wall of fire and the glory within. So that you remain blessed within and protected without.
The devil can do nothing about this because the great One who watches over you neither slumbers nor sleeps!Go on and bless the Lord for the much love He is that makes this possible. No greater blessing than having the Lord with you, IN ALL THAT YOU DO.
