Topic: God Makes Up the Difference!
Text: 2 Kings 7:6- 7a
For the Lord had caused the Arameans to hear the sound of chariots and horses and a great army, so that they said to one another, “Look, the king of Israel has hired the Hittite and Egyptian kings to attack us!” So they got up and fled in the dusk. Amen
One time in the history of Israel, Ben-Hadad king of Aram mobilized his entire army and marched up and laid siege to Samaria. This caused a great famine in the city and made its people vulnerable. In fact the siege lasted so long that a donkey’s head sold for eighty shekels of silver, and a quarter of a cab of seed pods for five shekels. (2 kings 6: 24- 25).
Now there were four men with leprosy at the entrance of the city gate. They said to each other, “Why stay here until we die? If we say, ‘We’ll go into the city’—the famine is there, and we will die. And if we stay here, we will die. So let’s go over to the camp of the Arameans and surrender. If they spare us, we live; if they kill us, then we die.”
At dusk they got up and went to the camp of the Arameans. When they reached the edge of the camp, no one was there, for the Lord had caused the Arameans to hear the sound of chariots and horses and a great army, so that they said to one another, “Look, the king of Israel has hired the Hittite and Egyptian kings to attack us!” So they got up and fled in the dusk and abandoned their tents and their horses and donkeys. They left the camp as it was and ran for their lives. (2 kings 7: 3- 7).
Beloved in Christ, no matter what you think your limitations, weaknesses, inadequacies and setbacks are, God is able to magnify His divine nature through you. Such that with Him, few becomes much, weakness becomes strength, little becomes many and the impossible becomes possible.
As a matter of truth, He actually desires to make up the difference and put us far beyond where we ever thought we could be.
From the passage above, we see how God simply multiplied the sound of footsteps of four lepers and caused them to sound like a mighty army. A sound so real and strong that the Aramean army took off without delay. Now these were thousands of armed soldiers, scared to death and running for their dear lives, thinking they were being attacked by a massive army when in fact, it was just four men! What happened? God made up the difference.
Precious One, as we begin a new working week today, please be reminded that God is able to magnify Himself through your efforts. He is able to make you stronger before the adversary and smarter than all his snares. God also knows how to multiply your influence to yield great and positive results.
You don’t have to figure it all out; you simply need to trust and act upon His word. Begin to pray therefore and commit the entire week into God’s hands. Ask Him to increase in all things so that you may decrease. Ask that He multiplies your steps and effort to achieve strides that bring glory to His name.
And Now, because God make up the difference in our lives, we know it’s going to be a blessed week. Therefore “let the weak say, I am strong” (Joel 3: 10c).
