Topic: Jesus Wants More Too!
Text: Luke 19:3- 6
He wanted to see who Jesus was, but being a short man he could not because of the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way. When Jesus reached the spot, He looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” Amen
More often than not, we define how much we want to do and how far we want to go for God, and hope He will understand. Zacchaeus only wanted to see Jesus — PERIOD!. He might have thought, “I will go the extra mile to see this ‘MAN’ everyone talks about just to satisfy my curiousity, then I go home and sleep.” But Jesus wanted more!
We sometimes define the extent we should go with the Lord. Once we satisfy those conditions, we feel great and think God will be pleased with us.
Some of us have even quantified and put limits on everything we do for God; how much offering to pay, how many services to attend in a week, how many minutes in prayer will be enough for each day etc, etc.
We fight every preacher who inspires us to give our entirety to Christ. In fact, we are never ready to go beyond our set limits no matter what. If anything should change at all, it maybe a reduction.
The major question is: ‘What if Jesus wants more’? Will you be willing to give more? For instance, will you be willing to love everyone, including your enemies, and pray for them? Are you ready to embark on that evangelism or outreach just to win souls for Christ? Will you be consistent in prayer and supporting the work of God without murmuring; and still help others with the little money you have left? Think about these; as the Master is not in our lives to satisfy our curiousity — He wants all that we are!
It is a brand new week, therefore begin to pray now for the kind of understanding and ability to commit your all to Jesus. It might seem like a difficult step, and that you are going to be too spent. But the Holy Spirit strengthens us through until the decision to give our all to Christ proves to be the best thing that ever happened to us.
Everyone who would yield should never forget that the more we give the Lord, the more of Him we receive and become. And a glorious change comes all over us, and our lives are never the same again.
