Topic: Don’t Wait for Them, Take Action
Text: 1 Sam 14: 6
Jonathan said to his young armor-bearer, “Come, let’s go over to the outpost of those uncircumcised men. Perhaps the Lord will act in our behalf. Nothing can hinder the Lord from saving, whether by many or by few.” Amen
Saul the king was lying idle under a pomegranate tree at the outskirts of Gibeah with 600 of his men while a detachment of Philistines had gone out to assemble at Michmash. They aim was to attack Isreal unawares because her leader and soldiers had abandoned their post and were idling about under a tree.
Jonathan (the King’s son), was not like the rest. He had noticed the move of the Philistines and decides to attack the enemy before they launch a surprise attack. He calls his armorbearer to come along, and encourages him saying “Come, let’s go over to the outpost of those uncircumcised men. PERHAPS THE LORD WILL ACT IN OUR BEHALF. Nothing can hinder the Lord from saving, whether by many or by few.” They took the step of faith and the Lord delivered Isreal through them that day.
Precious One, why are you always waiting for all to come on board before you get anything meaningful and necessary done? Why do you think ignoring your duties because everyone else has abandoned their post will help in any way? Why do you spend all day angry with or worried about those colleagues who are “lazying under trees”. Why don’t you rather go into prayer and have the Lord inspire and direct you to do the best you can to save the situation. Take action now or their inaction will cost everyone, including you.
All you need is Holy Ghost on your side, His word to direct you, and a few brethren of equal concern and passion for excellence.
It’s a monday morning, meditate on this word as you plan for the week. Ask God to lead you each step along the way and grant you loyal colleagues and partners equally passionate about duty and being proactive. They will support you all the way. Your every prompt response to solve a challenge may save a whole family, company or nation a major disaster that was to hit them so hard because others were negligent.
Don’t wait for everyone to come aboard before necessary work is done. The few can start now. God will bring us help along the way.
