Topic: My Soul, Come Forth!
Text: John 11: 43
43 And having said these things, He cried in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!
Oh life! It can take us so far from light, with no hope to rise back up again. A place very deserted and lonely with tears acting as your only companion. It feels worse when you know the Lord and have been praying Him into your circumstances but to no avail. And what can an ordinary person do in a situation where even God is silent?
A family of two sisters and a brother faced the same situation during Jesus’ time on earth. They really love Jesus and are comforted that He loves them too. They would do anything for Him if only He will allow them. Believing in Him, serving Him and listening to every word He said.
It was only natural that the two sisters, Mary and Martha, sent word to Jesus that their only brother was sick. They have seen Him heal many many diseases that were even more severe. But, as life sometimes presents us, Jesus doesn’t not show up “on time” (or at least so they thought) and their brother Lazarus dies.
The sisters weep so loud in deep anguish and a whole community of sympathizers could not console them. Their beloved brother is gone, forever. But you see, we often focus on the pain of the sisters and neglect how sad Lazarus might have been realising with each cough, shiver, vomit, body ache and fever that Jesus had abandoned him for death.
When Jesus finally shows up, Lazarus is already dead; four days! Nothing else could be done except to mourn him. Jesus asked that He be taken to the tomb of His friend, and it was thought that He wanted to mourn Lazarus there. But when He asked that they roll away the stone, Martha hesitated. She said ” but, Lord, by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days. Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” (John 11: 40).
Beloved, rush to the streets and the neighbourhood. Tell the dejected, sick, destitute and lonely not to despair. If only they can BELIEVE, THEY WILL SEE THE GLORY OF GOD IN THEIR LIVES THIS VERY MOMENT.
As they took away the stone, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!” Then the dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.”
Meditate on this word child of God and begin to pray. As the Lord commands you to COME FORTH! See yourself walking out of your pain, broken heart and misery in the name of Jesus. Wade off cloth of death, shame and poverty and be set free in the mighty name of Jesus. Your situation is not unto death but FOR THE GLORY OF GOD. COME THEE FORTH, NOW! Be set free in Jesus name.
See you at church
