Today’s Devotion
Topic: May The Lord Keep You!
Text: 2 Thess. 3:3
But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. Amen
Though the Christmas season is characterised by a lot of festivities which connote joy and gladness, there’s often unspoken fear and anxiety lurking around in the hearts of many. Usually around this time of the year, incidents of evil are almost as common as the festivities.
A lot of deaths are recorded through accidents and other natural and unnatural disasters. It’s almost as if the season is a harvest of lives unto death. But the Giver and Sustainer of life is yet around and available to all who call on Him and trust Him to keep them.
From today’s Scripture, we are reminded of the fact that Almighty God is FAITHFUL; He will never disappoint the many that call on Him in faith to keep them. Moreover, He has power to establish and keep all such from the evil that seeks to devour them.
Beloved, as a child of God, your life is hidden with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3). It is this same God who is well able to guard whatever is entrusted into His care and keep it till the day of His return (2 Tim. 1:12). So take advantage of the privilege of coming to this God in prayer; spend time entrusting your entire life into His hands because He cares for you greatly.
Listen to what He says to you; “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honour them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.” (Psalm 91: 14- 16)
As you call on the Almighty God today, may He rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. May He cover you with His feathers and shelter you with His wings. Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you.
As you make the Lord your refuge, the Most High your shelter, may no evil conquer you and no plague come near your home. For He will order His angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone (Psalm 91). The Lord Almighty shall accomplish this in the mighty name of JESUS!
