Topic: Rampant Everywhere!
Text: Matthew 24:10-12
10 And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other. 11 And many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people. 12 Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold. Amen
Truth be told; our world gets more and more complex by each passing minute. With these complexities come increase in knowledge and skill. Yet, we also see an increase in evil on a daily basis, almost at the same pace as the increase in knowledge or even faster.
Centuries ago when Jesus, in a conversation with His disciples, predicted this state of being, it looked as though it would never come. Jesus told them, “Don’t let anyone mislead you, for many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah.’ They will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately. Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world.
“And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other. And many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people. Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.” (Matthew 24:4-13)
Years after Jesus’ ascension into Heaven, the apostle Paul writes that; “in the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly.” (2Tim. 3:1-5)
Believe it or not, those times have finally dawned on us; we live in the very midst of those times. It’s saddening to note that with time, many rather ‘innocent’ people are being corrupted. Evil is gradually being accepted as good and people have no remorse promoting it.
Beloved, this morning, Jesus speaks directly to you saying; “I WILL ASK NOTHING MORE OF YOU EXCEPT THAT YOU HOLD TIGHTLY TO WHAT YOU HAVE UNTIL I COME” (Revelation 2: 24b, 25). Begin to pray; ask God to give you strength to hold unto your faith to the very end and to not lose your identity by blending in with the masses. In what state will Christ come to meet you; on fire for Him or lukewarm in sin? Think about this.
