Topic : Let’s Fill The Earth With His Word!
Text: Luke 9: 1- 9
1 When Jesus had called the Twelve together, He gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, 2 and He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.
3 He told them: “Take nothing for the journey—no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra shirt. 4 Whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave that town. 5 If people do not welcome you, leave their town and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.” 6 SO THEY SET OUT AND WENT FROM VILLAGE TO VILLAGE, PROCLAIMING THE GOOD NEWS AND HEALING PEOPLE EVERYWHERE.
7 Now Herod the tetrarch heard about all that was going on. And he was perplexed because some were saying that John had been raised from the dead, 8 others that Elijah had appeared, and still others that one of the prophets of long ago had come back to life. 9 But Herod said, “I beheaded John. Who, then, is this I hear such things about?” And he tried to see Him. AMEN
Beloved, don’t you just love the commitment of these twelve men that our Lord called? He literally empowered them and sent them to the unknown. He advised against the over reliance on material things and the temptation of becoming overbearing on people. Their mission was simply to go places that would receive them and share the good news.
These twelve men then set out and went from village to village, doing exactly what they have been empowered to do; proclaiming the good news and healing people EVERYWHERE.
Possibly, Herod the tetrarch thought by beheading John the Baptist he could silence the proclamation of the gospel. But no, before he could rejoice in his wickedness, these twelve that were called and sent out were spreading the good news everywhere. Perplexed and confused, now he wanted to see Jesus too; the ONE everyone spoke about.
Beloved in Christ, what will be our number across the globe today? Are we not more than twelve in number? Do we not agree with scripture that we’re in the dispensation of the Holy Spirit who lives in us both to will and to do? Are we not as empowered as we claim we are anymore? Why then are we not saturating the world with the good news of the Lord, backed by signs and wonders? Think about it.
Why don’t you start from your Jerusalem (home), then to Judea (province) and there after, to the uttermost parts of the world. Fortunately we can reach the world without effort in our time. The internet spreads everything viral; whether good or junk. Why don’t we take advantage and win our world for Christ?
There is not much time and heaven is counting on you. Don’t let all this power invested in you lie dormant while souls perish every second. He that wins souls is wise, begin today.
