Today’s Devotion
Topic : He Will Restore The Fortunes Of The Land!
Text : Jeremiah 33 : 10 – 11

10 “This is what the LORD says: ’You say about this place, “It is a desolate waste, without people or animals.” Yet in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem that are deserted, inhabited by neither people nor animals, there will be heard once more 11 the sounds of joy and gladness, the voices of bride and bridegroom, and the voices of those who bring thank offerings to the house of the LORD, saying, “Give thanks to the LORD Almighty, for the LORD is good; his love endures forever.” For I will restore the fortunes of the land as they were before,’ says the LORD. Amen

Desolate describes a state of waste or devastation. It also describes that feeling of loneliness or being abandoned by people; a state of no hope.

Quite clearly, a desolate place is definitely written off by people, in that, it has nothing good to offer. This was the case for the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem. At certain points in life, all of us assume this state, where it appears nothing is  working for us. Things begin to take a downward turn and even family and friends desert us. We are left on our own, in a solitary state.

But this state of desolation cannot write the final chapters of our lives. NO WAY! The reason? We have God on our side. The Almighty, Faithful One, our Provider, our Comforter whose love endures forever, the Restorer of hope, He who rebuilds our broken walls and makes them in a fortress, the Light that shines in our darkness; indeed Emmanuel, the God who is with us. He specialises into turning the foolish things of the world to confound the wise.

You see, when we think we are at the end of our rope, we are never at the end our hope. The word of God stands true forever.

The best part of the cake is yet to be served. The Restorer of fortunes is headed our direction, bringing back the joy and shouts of gladness once again, invigorating us  and brightening every corner of our lives once again. “For the Lord God is our sun and shield. He gives grace and glory. The Lord will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right.” (Ps. 84:11)

So cheer up child of God and begin to pray Your God is not a god of desolation. He delights in wellbeing of His children. Pray away every feeling of desolation in all aspects of your life. God never disappoints and He’s not going to start now. For He is good, and His mercies endures forever.
