Topic: Remember The Lord Thy God!
Text: Deut 2: 7; 8: 10 -11a, 12, 17- 18a
2: 7 The LORD your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He has watched over your journey through this vast wilderness. These forty years the LORD your God has been with you, and you have not lacked anything.
8: 10 When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God for the good land He has given you. 11a Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God. 12 Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down, 17 You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” 18a But remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth. Amen
Gratitude is very important in life. To show appreciation even for the tiniest courtesy and sincerest charity is the gesture that distinguishes the noble from the ingrate. It also identifies those who merit more favour and those who do not.
Often we forget where we have come from as soon as we land into abundance. We forget the earnest prayers we said. We forget our vows and godly resolutions. We forget to honour those precious people God used to set us high. What’s worse: WE EVEN FORGET GOD, THE ONE BY WHO’S GENEROUS PROVIDENCE WE MAKE IT THROUGH LIFE.
All of a sudden our ingenuity and hard work is credited for our successes. Even the failed attempts to success, which could have never seen the light of day but for grace, are explained as our strategy to prove how capable we are in turning dead situations into mega successes.
It is always incomprehensible, beloved; how is it that we always end up like this: taking praise and credit for all that God does in our lives without offering to Him the GLORY DUE HIS NAME? Is it not He, who blesses the works of our hands and watches over our journey through life? Has it not been His presence with us that kept us from lack?
So then, when you have eaten and are satisfied, built fine houses and settled down, PRAISE THE LORD YOUR GOD, by whose ability we produce wealth. He is patiently hoping that this message will turn your pride to praise and your boast into adoration; for the great things He has taught you and the great things He has done.
Begin to praise, pray and worship. Let all that is within you bless His holy name. “Give unto the Lord the glory due unto His name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.” (Ps 29: 2)
