Strengthen What Remains

Today’s Devotion
Topic: Strengthen What Remains!
Text: Rev 3: 2- 3

2 Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God. 3 Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you. Amen

It has become apparent through the ages that God is excellent at all He sets out to do. He is very responsible in all His ways and brings to a successful completion every good work He begins (Phil 1: 6).

Creating us in His image and according to His divine purpose, God expects us to do same. Even at Eden, God expected man to put his energies and creativity to use. According to Genesis 2: 15, “The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to WORK it and TAKE CARE  of it”.

Interestingly, work is only fun when we are willing. If not, complacency, fatigue, discontentment, laziness, procrastination or dissatisfaction sets in and some give up. They abandon the task and either remain idle or start looking for the next opportunity available. Those who do not give up, often work with partial commitment.

An unfinished assignment however, does not merit its corresponding reward. Therefore wake up and get back to good works. Working your salvation with fear and trembling (Phil 2: 12), working with all your heart in all you do (Col 3: 23), working with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people (Ephe 6: 7), working the works of He who sent you here on earth while it is day, before night comes when no man can work (John 9: 4), and working with your hands while you mind your own business (1 Thess 4: 11).

Arise! oh Child of God, wake up and strengthen what remains of your family, ministry, career and academics. Let it be of concern to you that the Father finds your deeds unfinished because He is your rewarder. He only rewards the kind of  godliness and diligence that endures to the end.

Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard from scriptures. Hold fast to them and apply them everywhere you find yourself. Don’t procratinate till the Lord meets you unawares.

Begin to pray now. Ask for grace to complete every good task began. The Holy Spirit is your teacher, you will never fail. He is your shield, and your exceeding great reward (Gen 15: 1).
