“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”Amen

*What Abortion Looks Like In The Sight Of God.*

Yesterday, we mentioned the debate as to when to allow an abortion, and stated that some activists see the decision to welcome a new child as personal; once the individual is not ready, they have the right to terminate it. Those who differ, also emphasize that life begins with conception. So then, whatever is done to terminate a foetus is done against a human life and therefore tantamount to murder.

The above debate is, however, just an intellectual discourse and has little connection with spiritual law. As far as eternal principles are concerned, life DOES NOT EVEN BEGIN AT CONCEPTION, BUT RATHER BEFORE!

Jehovah told Jeremiah to his face that, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Wow! How interesting.

Several other situations in the Bible perfectly confirm this. For instance, Zechariah and his beloved wife Elizabeth had been devout to God for a long time and were trusting Him for a child, though advanced in age. Now, before they could copulate for conception to take place, the Angel Gabriel has a perfect description of who the boy is and what his purpose is to be. He said:

“Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John. He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even before he is born. He will bring back many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God. And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the parents to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous — to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.” (Luke 1: 13b- 17).

Again, before Mary could be married to Joseph and consummate their marriage for conception to occur, the same angel visits Mary and has a perfect description of the child she is to bear and what His mission is. He said, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favour with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; His kingdom will never end.” (Luke 1: 30b- 33).

Now let us analyse what an angel once told Samson’s mother. The angel of the Lord appeared to her and said, “You are barren and childless, but you are going to become pregnant and give birth to a son” (Judges 13: 3). Now this means that as at the time of the prophecy, conception had not even taken place since the woman was still barren and childless. The angel also said, “but you are going to become pregnant”, which equally confirms conception was yet to take place.

So the question is; how did the angel know it was to be a boy? Why did he instruct that Samson’s mother drunk no wine or other fermented drinks nor ate anything unclean if he didn’t know who the child was to be? Of Course he knew, and even said so. He said, “You will become pregnant and have a son whose head is never to be touched by a razor because the boy is to be a Nazarite, dedicated to God from the womb. He will take the lead in delivering Israel from the hands of the Philistines.” (Judges 13: 5).

The life of Samson begun the moment God thought of him in eternity and gave him a destiny and a purpose here on earth. That is the same for each of us; dead, alive or yet to be born. If God did not have a purpose for us here on earth, He would have no right to demand accountability from us; much more judge our actions. There is definitely a reason that brought each of us here. And that we will say is God’s expectation of us. This is why He told Jeremiah, “BEFORE I FORMED YOU IN THE WOMB, I KNEW YOU!”

All the above means that every abortion, is to God, ‘a precious life cut short and its destiny and purpose, destroyed.’ Now that is a huge loss to heaven and a clear violation of the eternal law that says: “You shall not murder” (Exo. 20: 13). This is how abortion looks like in the sight of God.
