Text John 8: 3-4, 7, 9-11

3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.

9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”11 “No one, sir,” she said.“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.” Amen

In moments like this, we all get sober and dumbfounded, being fully aware that we don’t deserve the pardon we have received.

Having indulged and caught red handed by God in several sinful acts through out the year, we agree with our accusers that we’ve been terrible and deserve the full penalty of our actions.

But this judge is different, He is interested in giving us a second chance to mend the wrong so we can dwell in His righteousness and live a victorious life. Yes He detest the sin we do, and will never condone them but He doesn’t condemn us yet.

Now look around you, all those who had stones of different weights to hit you have dropped them and are leaving- they too have skeletons in their cupboard. They equally need a savior in the JESUS you have found. They going to their closets to plead for forgiveness just as you are doing. They don’t want the burden of a sinful life hanging around them in the coming year.

Why don’t you take that bold decision to part ways with Sin too?

Honestly, we would all have been stoned to death by now…. and yes, we deserved it. The reason we are still here is that Man Jesus who stepped in right on time to buy our pardon at a high price. Now He warns that we leave the life of Sin and put on righteousness. That way, the accuser gets no grounds to demand our lives, block our blessings or cut us off completely from the fold of God.
